General A6000 lense?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:58 pm

I have the Sony A6000 and have the lense that came with it as well as a telephoto. The problem I have with the included lense is doesn't have much zoom so in many of my vacation photos people look like they're standing far away unless I get right up on them.

Is there a better all purpose lense that would be affordable? I'm a beginning photographer

I presume you're talking about the E PZ 16–50 mm F3.5–5.6 OSS (http://www.sony.com/electronics/camera-lenses/selp1650 and the E 55–210 mm F4.5-6.3 OSS (http://www.sony.com/electronics/camera-lenses/sel55210 that are available as part of a two-lens kit with the A6000. Unfortunately, the selection of lenses for the A6000 isn't very substantial, and 210mm is about as long as it gets. There is the Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS (http://www.sony.com/electronics/camera-lenses/sel24240) that is slightly longer, but it's, big, heavy, $1,000, and not very good.

You're correct about the lenses I have. I don't need one with a bigger zoom than the telephoto, but am instead looking for one to replace the E PZ 16–50 mm as a general lense for everyday use. The telephoto lense works well when I need to zoom in, but it's too zoomed in and large for everyday use.
