soundMAX.dll not found

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:00 pm

I didn't know where to post this. A window came up the other day from vaio care about disk cleanup. I went through with the scan and cleaned it. Well ever since that disk cleanup i get
"There was a problem starting

The specified module could not be found." messagebox. Any help would be appreciated.

You can try to do a system restore to a point before the error started happening. Also you could reinstall the sound drivers to see if it resolves the error. -Mike Sony Service and Support

Sorry just checked what you said. I tried reinstalling both sound drivers and it didnt fix the problem. I cant reinstall the os because i do not have a installation cd for windows 7, it came pre installed, and i would like to do fix it without reinstalling the os.

I'm sorry to hear about your audio startup issue. We would recommend the following;

1) Click on Start
2) Click on Run
3) Type "msconfig"
4) Click on the startup tab
5) Uncheck the Audio

This will not affect your audio playback

Let us know if this resolves your issue.

Also you can create the recovery media for your computer either through VAIO Care or through the VAIO Recovery Center application. Regards,
