Do you mean USB2.0 or USB3.0?

If so I imagine faster is better (3.0) but there are a lot of factors I would imagine you need to consider.

a.) What device are you using to record live TV?

b) What format USB Drives does it support? 2.0? 3.0? Both? Is there a minimum capacity it needs?

You should be able to make the correct decision knowing that information. The device's manual would likely point that out.

Just to give you how out of touch with TV recording I am, I didn't even know there were devices that record live TV to USB Flash Drives, aside from cable boxes which sometimes use that to cache live TV for Pause/Rewinding live TV.
